About PAC's Black Nativity 2015

Langston Hughes' play , BLACK NATIVITY is produced yearly in most major cities. Here in Savannah we (Performing Arts Collective of Savannah) have put the show up for the past 4 years with great response and look forward to doing it for many years to come. Our team includes Stage Director- Darrowe McMillon,Choregrapher- Muriel Miller, and Music Director- Gary Swindell as well as a broad range of talented people from all over the city . In.our production there are very few script changes so that we stay true to Langston Hughesintentions, however in places musically the show is very different and reflects a greater variety of styles that are representative of the broader musical inputs that are part of American life today. Not all the music is changed or new however, several of the songs are almost exactly as i performed them in a touring production over 30years ago. Musical styles that i included in updating the production are South African township, Carribean Reggae, Samba, Broadway,& Rocking praise & worship, the rest are solid gospel, & spirituals like you would hear on a Sunday Mornin in a traditional "Bapticostal", "Church of God in Charismatic" setting. I am especially happy & excited that this year the church where i serve as Minister of Music , the wonderful PENTECOSTAL MIRACLE DELIVERANCE CENTER requested to host this year's production so there will be an obvious intersection of my Ministry work and Community work. It was always there but not in an obvious way.Don't miss it!!! Bring your Family, friends, church & Grandma to this soulful celebration that is sure to open your heart to what the Christmas Season is all about..
